Am just back from a supposedly 1 hour lunch that stretched to 2.5. At the NUS guild house, no less. Again doing one of my infamous latching on (to free food) act. It's a skill every PhD student will pick up.

Anyway, it started out when NNK received a phone call from TSH. A few moments later, she peered over my shoulder and asked me if I were free for lunch tomorrow, at the Guild House.

"What's the occasion?" I asked, and she replied hazily along the lines of lunch for the crustie people, which i then assumed to be a farewell makan for Dr. Li who has been with us for 6 months and will be returning to Hainan next week.

So I come in to the lab today, when 11.30am rolled around, I was surprised to see Ngan Kee beckon to me to leave the lab for the museum. No sign of any activity from Dr. Li who sat hunched over his microscope.

Puzzled, I asked NNK again on our way to the museum where we were supposed to meet the Boss what was going on.

"Oh.. it is the welcome lunch for the speakers of the Diana Saw symposium."

O-kaaaay....

Anyway, becuase there was some confusuion regarding who was picking up who and where, NNK never quite told me further than that, I was left wondering who this Diana Saw person was.

We met Boss by the foot of the museum block, and all of us walked to the bustop for SS et all to swing by. NNK and the Boss were yabbering away about miscommunications and Diana Saw this and that...

Finally at the bus stop, I asked my burning questions

"Boss, NNK, who is this Diana Saw person, and how come she's so famous there's a symposium for her? Got 4 speakers somemore!!!Is she some dead patron who donated loads of money to the department? Tell me leh... WHO IS DIANA SAW?"

I can't remembered what their answer was, except it didn't quite answer my questions, so I repeated myself again until midway.. I had an epiphany... It is not Diana Saw (DUH!!!) but the Dinosaurs! exhibition now on at the science centre jointly organised by the Faculty of Science.

Dinosaurs Symposium, Diana Saw symposium. Hiaz...time to clean out those ears...

Conincidentally, I just finished a book that had a wizard in Chicago re-animate Sue the T-Rex to fight zombies, undead and other forces of evil.
